Privacy Policy

Last updated: 26 May 2026

Sift (“the app”) is a keyboard-first outliner for macOS. We believe the best way to protect your privacy is not to collect your data in the first place. This policy explains, plainly, what that means.

The short version

Sift collects no personal data. It has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, and no advertising. Your notes never leave your Mac.

What stays on your device

Everything you write in Sift — your lists, notes, and their structure — is stored locally on your Mac in the app’s own sandboxed storage. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party. We have no servers that receive your content, and we cannot see, access, or recover it.

Data we collect

None. Sift does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information, usage analytics, diagnostics, identifiers, or location data.

Network use

Sift works fully offline and does not require an internet connection to function.

In-app purchases

Sift offers a one-time “Sift Pro” unlock through Apple’s App Store. Any purchase is processed entirely by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy. Sift does not receive your payment details, and we do not collect any information about your purchase beyond what Apple provides to all developers in aggregate sales reports.

Children’s privacy

Because Sift collects no data from anyone, it collects no data from children. The app is rated 4+.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date.
